F.A.C.E. (Family and Child Education) Program: 

44 families are involved in the FACE Program here at Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle Community Grant School.
 They serve families, parents, kids, age ranges from pre-natal to the age of 5.

 

Technology: software reading books, publications of books, Online Courses: G.E.D. placement examss, those that have attained their G.E.D.s diplomas will be completing their courses work at San Juan College by taking online courses. Parents must meet with their advisor to advise on classes to take, Course # Class #.

 

Four Parts of F.A.C.E.: Keeping the circle strong!

  • Adult Education: things that are being taught are parenting skills, life skills, computer skills, literate racy based program for children and adults.
  • Home Base: Parent Educators that are out on the field take the lessons to the home for families prenatal through 3 years old.
  • Pact Time: Parent and Child Time.  The child plays the lead role in determining the learning that takes place, reading, cooking, along with their parent, focus on dialogic reading.
  • Parent Time: Is a separate component, one hour a day educational classes that teaches, life skills, computer skills, different presenters, & have online courses.
  • Center Base: adult education and Early Childhood.  Three to five years of age children are working on their kindergarten readiness skills focusing on FACE Early Childhood Standards.

Presentations:

  • FACE program works on presentations.
  • Different presenters that give cultural presentations, such as, jewelry making, a focus on early childhood development, & teaching better parenting skills.

 

Family Circle: Have meetings once a month, geared toward early child development.  Guest Speakers and use the resources in the community.

Trainings: for professional development in the B.I.E. provides the training for employee’s SY210211 will be in Orlando, Florida.

Awards:

  • The Bureau of Indian Education Family and Child Education was recognized for their FACE Program for providing outstanding services to families for providing outstanding services to families during the school year 2009-2010 presented on March 4, 2010.  Recognized the top 10 programs in the United States through B.I.E.
  • Parent Honored for Essay: Desiree Larvingo FACE Program.

Parent Involvement:

  • Open House: September 9, 2010 @ 4:00 p.m.
  • (once a month 1 hour k-8th) Family Fun Night: (6) Games Activities, assemblies, (seasonal) plays, skit, kids leadership in plays (action packed plays) & talent night show.
  • Incentives: parental incentives, they earn prizes.
  • Personal Visit Room: parents who can’t make the visit, they can meet at the Personal Visit Room at the school.
